In January 2011, NBC announced that they had given a pilot order to a series titled Grimm, pitched by David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf. The series was produced by Universal Media Studios and Hazy Mills Productions, with Greenwalt and Kouf also serving as executive producers for the series, along with Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner.[9][10] In May 2011, NBC picked up the pilot to series.[11]

Filming on the series began in March 2011, in and around Portland, Oregon.[12][13] Greenwalt and Kouf told Portland's NBC affiliate KGW that they chose Portland because of its plentiful forests in the city's two largest parks, Washington Park and Forest Park.[14]

On September 30, 2011, NBC delayed the debut of Grimm by one month, moving the premiere to October 28, 2011, so it could premiere closer to Halloween.[15] The series was slated on Friday nights for the majority of its first season.[16] On November 21, 2011, NBC picked up the series for a full 22-episode season.[17] NBC aired a special Thursday screening on December 8, 2011, at 10 pm to analyse whether the network's overall ratings could improve.[17][18]

On March 16, 2012, NBC announced that the series had been renewed for a second season;[19] according to writers/producers David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, they would continue to film the show in Portland, saying, "Rain or shine, Portland has been the ideal setting for fairy tales with its enchanting layout. It is its own character in our show with the perfect mix of urban and rural settings."[20] The second season premiered on Monday, August 13, 2012, and continued on Mondays for four episodes, before returning to its original Friday timeslot on September 10.[21] NBC moved Grimm to Tuesday nights beginning April 30, 2013, for the remainder of Season 2.[22]

The series was renewed for a third season on April 26, 2013.[23] The third season premiered on October 25, 2013, which returned the show to its original Friday timeslot. On March 19, 2014, NBC announced that Grimm had been renewed for a fourth season, which premiered on October 24, 2014.[24][25]

David Giuntoli was the first to be cast in the series, in the titular role of Nick Burkhardt, in February 2011[31] He was followed by Silas Weir Mitchell as Monroe, the now-reformed "big bad wolf".[32] Following him, Russell Hornsby and Bitsie Tulloch were cast as Nick's partner Hank and his girlfriend, Juliette, respectively.[33] The following month, Sasha Roiz was cast as a series regular, in the role of Captain Sean Renard.[34]

The second season received a more favorable response, with a score of 75 out of 100 on Metacritic, based on four reviews.[43] The season holds a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 11 reviews. The critics consensus reads, "Grimm continues expanding upon its own mythology during a darker, thrilling sophomore season."[44] The Los Angeles Times reviewed the second-season premiere as, "it's hard not to love a show with a comely apothecary, and it's impossible not to love the new season of Grimm."[45]

By Friday, September 28, 2012, "Grimm" had increased its adult 18-49 rating by 1.14 points going from "live plus same day" ratings to "live plus three day" results from Nielsen Media Research (from a 1.58 to a 2.72). The 1.14 increase was Grimm's biggest gain ever, going from L+SD to L+3. The 2.72 was Grimm's highest L+3 rating since the show's second-season premiere on Monday, August 13.[48]

Novelist John Shirley was hired to write the first novel based on the Grimm television show. Grimm: The Icy Touch was published by Titan Books on November 5, 2013,[68] and book 2, Grimm: The Chopping Block, written by John Passarella, was published February 18, 2014.[69] The third novel, Grimm: The Killing Time, was written by Tim Waggoner and was published on September 30, 2014.[70]

Grimm is a television show inspired by Grimms' Fairy Tales that aired on NBC. Each episode begins with an imposed excerpt usually referencing the theme of the episode. It was filmed and set in Portland, Oregon. The show was created by Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt, and Jim Kouf. Greenwalt and Kouf were 2 of 4 individuals who were executive producers throughout the entirety of the series, the others being Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner. The show premiered on October 28, 2011 and concluded on March 31, 2017 after 6 seasons and 123 episodes.

Season 1 began filming with the "Pilot" in March 2011, while the rest of the season continued filming in July 2011. Season 1 aired from October 28, 2011 until May 18, 2012 and the season 1 DVD and Blu-ray sets were released on August 7, 2012.

In 2006, Todd Milliner came up with the general idea for the show while taking a shower. He had the idea of "What can I do for a show that's in the public domain?" He wanted to do a modern retelling of the Brothers Grimm. Hazy Mills (the production company shared by Milliner and Sean Hayes) met with David Greenwalt before NBC was on board and suggested that the show should be a crime drama with a supernatural twist. Greenwalt liked the idea and soon called Jim Kouf to get his help with the show.[1]

"We reached out to Ehren Kruger and producing partner Daniel Bobker to see if they had any interest in making The Brothers Grimm movie into a TV show and the pitch Ehren came back with blew us away.&#160 We're thrilled to be working with a writer of his caliber."

Massive Canon Divergence. Does not follow the timeline of the show.Nick Burkhardt is dealing with a broken heart after his girlfriend leaves him without word or warning.Adalind Schade is dealing with a broken heart after finding out the man she loved had been sleeping with her mother on the same day her mother was killed. When Adalind discovers she is pregnant, Nick volunteers to be there for her through everything. Together, they discover how the unexpected might not be such a bad thing.

I wasn't going to do the who team had to be Grimm some could be 'vesen'. And if you remember in the show, Grimm's did not always see them unless they used their form in-front of them. A sneaky player NPC may not openly reveal their form. The Vesen could chose for "normal" people to either see them or not. A also nod that even if the Grimms can see them, just like in the show, everyone may not know of Grimm's & Vesen. Therefore, the local people, soldiers, lords, what have you may be completely oblivious to the truth.

The same could be accomplished without adding in any extra perks. Just have shapechangers slip their concentration for a moment so that players with really high perception skill notice something amiss. If you give the players the "perk" of seeing wesen, they may feel cheated when they come across a shapechanger but didn't slip up to show their face. But if you keep everything natural, then players can feel accomplished because they saw something no one else did.

Nick encounters a number of mythological creatures -- known as Wesen -- throughout the series. That being said, Skalengecks are lizard-like Wesen who appear in Grimm's first episode. Skalengecks are shown with scaly skin, pointed teeth, and gilled necks. Skalengecks are typically depicted as violent and arrogant; as a result, many aren't afraid to take on more skilled opponents. In addition, notable Skalengecks include Joshua Hall (Sean Cook) and Clint Vickers (Paul Glazier), among others.

While Skalengecks are certainly frightening, they are far from the only Wesen that Nick had to deal with. Hexenbiests, for instance, make their debut in Grimm's pilot as well. They look like rotting corpses, and possess a number of powerful abilities, including telekinesis and superhuman strength. Another nightmarish type of Wesen are the Mellifers. These creatures are nothing short of humanoid bees. What's more, their stingers contain toxin that's potent enough to take out a Hexenbiest, which shows that Mellifers aren't to be trifled with. To that end, although Skalengecks are terrifying in their own right, Nick has held his own against a myriad of Wesen, with each scarier than the last.

Although Grimm started off with a few shaky episodes, the show quickly found its footing. Before long, Grimm gained a glowing reputation as one of the best fantasy series out there. That's not to say that the show was perfect after season 1; in fact, fans still remember the controversial decision to kill off Nick's mom, Kelly (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) on screen in season 4. All in all, though, Grimm was able to transform into an incredibly popular fan favorite. As such, while the show has been over for a few years now, many Grimm enthusiasts still look back fondly on Nick's action-packed adventures.

Next thing she knew, Toboni was in L.A. testing for other NBC executives and "Grimm" producers, including Emmy winner Sean Hayes ("Will & Grace"), whose company Hazy Mills produces the show. Then she was shipped to Portland, Oregon, where the series is shot, to read with the Grimm himself, David Giuntoli. She got her happy-ending phone call just one day after her aforementioned birthday.

Did it get scarier when you realized you were being sent to test in L.A. and then with the show's star? For my L.A. audition, I wasn't very nervous, mainly because I still didn't believe anything would come of this adventure, and there was nothing to lose. I walked in, and Sean Hayes was there. I am a tad embarrassed about how hard I geeked out. I made sure to tell him we were doing "Will & Grace" scenes just a week before in my acting class. 041b061a72
